Our Hawick mill is home to Scotland’s knitwear tradition, where Cashmere and Merino Wool garments are crafted using skills passed down through generations. As a B Corp certified business, we continue the community values that have shaped us since 1797.

 

During your visit, you’ll follow the journey from yarn to finished knitwear, observe specialist hand‑finishing, and explore the heritage of the families who have defined Hawick’s craft. It’s a close, behind‑the‑scenes view of the making that sets Johnstons of Elgin apart.

The Discovery Experience

Explore our Hawick knitting mill behind the scenes, where the highest‑quality Cashmere and Wool fibres are transformed into luxurious knitwear. This guided experience offers a close view of our craftspeople at work and an introduction to the Scottish heritage that has shaped Hawick’s reputation for world‑class knitwear.

We can accommodate groups of up to six, with the option to include a personal shopping consultation with a member of our retail team. Daily timings are 11am, 12pm and 1pm (Monday–Thursday) and 10am on Fridays.

The Afternoon Tea Experience

The Afternoon Tea Experience

Extend your Discovery Experience with a traditional Afternoon Tea in our Coffee Shop, where our team will serve a selection of homemade savoury and sweet treats alongside speciality tea or coffee. It’s a relaxed way to continue your visit and enjoy the atmosphere of our Hawick site.

Afternoon Tea is scheduled one hour after your experience start time. Daily timings are 11am, 12pm and 1pm (Monday–Thursday).

Price: ADULT £32.00 CONCESSION £28.00 includes The Discovery Experience and Afternoon Tea.
