A Story Woven Across Three Landscapes
Commonwealth Cashmere
The Commonwealth Cashmere Tippet Scarf carries a story - one
shaped by land, livestock and the quiet, careful work of farming systems across three distinct regions of the Commonwealth. A design that begins far from the loom, in landscapes where goats play a purposeful role in how the land is tended, restored and understood. This limited-edition piece is shaped by fibres gathered from three distinct Commonwealth regions, each contributing not only exceptional cashmere, but a philosophy that values balance, biodiversity and long-term stewardship.
Across Scotland, New Zealand and Australia, goats are part of wider systems that support the land rather than strain it. At Lunan Bay farm in Scotland, small herds graze in ways that regenerate soil health, forming part of a model where agriculture, landscape and community coexist. NZCashmere
Growers' natural ground clearing in New Zealand helps reduce the need for pesticides and supports a more harmonious relationship between livestock and environment. In Australia, Andrew James’ selective breeding and holistic farming practices produce exceptionally low‑micron fibre - the result of patient, generational craft and a deep understanding of the rhythm of the land.
Three origins. Three approaches to land and livestock.
One shared commitment to thoughtful fibre.
Together, these sources form a Commonwealth partnership built on care, connection and responsibility - a fibre story that begins with the land and ends in the hands of skilled craftspeople in Elgin.
A Collaboration Shaped by Purpose
The Commonwealth Cashmere Tippet Scarf is created in collaboration with Highgrove and The King’s Foundation - a partnership that brings together landscape, heritage and a philosophy of traditional making and craft
This collaboration transforms the scarf into more than an accessory. It becomes a tangible expression of shared values: responsible farming, international partnership and a conscious approach to luxury.
Once the fibre reaches Elgin, it enters a world shaped by centuries of weaving expertise. It draws on traditional motifs found within heritage patterns, evolving them into a fresh, distinctive design direction.
A Conscious Expression of Luxury
Luxury today is increasingly defined by provenance, purpose and connection. The Commonwealth Cashmere Tippet Scarf embodies this ethos. It is crafted from fibre grown within thoughtful farming systems, shaped by a collaboration grounded in shared values, and finished through the textile expertise of Johnstons of Elgin.
Elegant, collectable and made to be treasured, the Commonwealth Cashmere Tippet Scarf offers more than warmth and softness. It is a tangible connection to British craft, Commonwealth collaboration and a more conscious approach to luxury - an exceptional gift or personal keepsake with a story woven through every fibre.
