Our Winter collection introduces a new chapter in colour and craftsmanship, shaped by Scotland’s enduring design lineage. The collection draws on the expressive clarity of Scottish modernism, taking quiet inspiration from the distilled landscapes and architectural compositions of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's late works. Contemporary restraint meets the precision of our mills and atelier.
Every piece is made in Scotland using skills honed over generations in our Elgin and Hawick mills. Brushed cashmere knits, abstracted thistle intarsias, Aran textures, exploded argyles, brushed lambswool tartan scarves, revived archive tartans, and newly honed ripple cashmere scarves define the collection’s material language.
A considered palette of green, purple, and red, grounded by natural, caramel, and heathery undertones. These tones echo the pared‑back landscapes and graphic clarity of Mackintosh’s later works. Colour is used with intention - clean, confident and quietly expressive.
Our on‑site atelier showcases the precision and heritage at the heart of Johnstons of Elgin. Pattern cutters and makers translate time‑honoured techniques into contemporary silhouettes. Lines are architectural, details are purposeful, and every seam is hand‑finished.
Introducing a considered wardrobe of knitwear, outerwear and accessories - understated, tactile and unmistakably Johnstons of Elgin. Designed to move effortlessly between seasons and settings, crafted to be worn, re‑worn and passed on.
